Everglades National Park. We decided to take a trip to the Everglades and check out the wildlife. Brett had someone tell him about a trail called Shark Valley Road on which you can rent and ride bicycles. So we strapped the kids in the car and headed out. Unfortunately Laura wasn't feeling well so she stayed behind. We rented bicycles there and then biked the 15 mile loop. The kids enjoyed about the first 7 miles and then were ready to get out and run around. Unfortunately there are aligators all over and so running around wasn't an option. We had a great time though looking at all of the gators and birds. We even saw several mother aligators with their babies. It was really neat. Anyway, the kids had finally had enough by mile 10 and started screaming their heads off. Brett took off like lightning, spurned on by the wailings of his daughter and Eric was not far behind, with Noah bawling as well. I, on the other hand, enjoyed a peaceful ride behind the two, too far back to hear the cries, but close enough to pick up the binki when it fell out of their mouths. About mile 13 we thought the kids might be actually enjoying themselves a little bit, that was until we looked up and noticed the thunder clouds. And then the heavens opened, and rain poured down upon us!! I think Eric must have been cursing us under his breathe and wondering how he could get mixed up with a couple of crazies like us. The rain only lasted about 10 minutes though, and by mile 14, it was all cleared up. We laughed about how soaked we were and mentioned to Eric that most of our adventures end up having some sort of surprise twist to them. We all had a fun time though and saw some amazing wildlife -- definately an outing we would do again (except maybe without the rain next time).
