Maya and Lucy enjoying homemade wheat pancakes at our campground. We decided to go for a family camp out while in Michigan. The night before we left we planned to get an early start. We decided we would leave the house by 10:00am and stake out our site, spend the day biking and swimming and then come back in time to cook our foil dinners and make smores. Well, things didn't turn out exactly as planned. Unfortunately the night before we left Spencer woke up in the middle of the night throwing up all over his carpet. He didn't feel sick, but must have had too much ice cream and homemade root beer at our 4th of July picnic that day. Anyway, after sprinkling baking soda on the mess and cleaning Spencer up, Brad and Anne stumbled back to bed, only to be awakened an hour later by Charlie screaming in his sleep. He must have been having a nightmare, and wouldn't wake up. A few hours later Lucy woke up crying and needing help. So, needless to say, we didn't leave early for our camping trip. We actually barely got everything out the door and squeezed into our two cars by 3:00 pm, but once we got on the road we all had a great time. We still got to bike and swim and make a campfire. Anne's boys were giddy with excitement about building the fire. They had a great time roasting whatever they could find. Lucy and Maya were also intrigued by the fire, so we ended up strapping them into the Chariot to keep them out of the flames. We all had a great time.

Anne-Marie making her homemade wheat pancakes. They were a big hit and very filling.

Breakfast time. Jenny, Brett, Charlie and Spencer.

Maya loves to use the broom. She was sweeping up the campsite for us as we packed everything up.

Brad and Brett packing up the cars. We couldn't believe how much gear we had to bring for just an over nighter, but we ended up using just about everything.
