Well another month has come and gone. August was a quick month for us; with settling back in from summer vacation, Night float, camping and visitors the time really flew. Brett finished up his Interventional Radiology rotation this week and is currently on his way to Atlanta to take his Physics Board Exam. Interventional was busy and the schedule was unpredictable so we are glad to be moving onto something new. Actually Brett will be doing research for the last two weeks of September and first two weeks of October, which we are really looking forward to. He has enjoyed work though, and feels like he is learning new things all the time. It has been fun for him to work with the incoming residents and realize how much he has learned in this past year. With all of the studying and being the low man on the pole sometimes it is hard to see your progress, but seeing the new residents has given him a new perspective.

Maya is growing. She now weighs about 15 lbs and is over 2 feet tall (26 inches at her 6 month appointment). She is starting to crawl and although not very fast, is quite determined and skillful when she puts her mind to it. Last night while Brett and I were sitting at the table she rolled a little ball across the floor and watched as it slowly got further and further away from her. Suddenly she was all hands and knees, as she went "chasing" after it. She never made it to the ball because she got distracted by some piano books on the floor, but she made serious progress. Lately she has been resisting afternoon naps, even though she is so tired. Today I resorted to driving her around in the car for 20 minutes until she fell asleep and then carefully put her in her bed. Hopefully this is just a short phase and she will get back on a better sleeping pattern. Although we can't complain because she sleeps 11-12 hours at night. She is doing better picking up small pieces of food and gives us a big grin when she actually gets one in her mouth. She is also very aware of her surroundings and when she notices us watching her she quickly looks up and gives us a great big gummy smile. (she has two teeth on bottom but none on top yet). She brings a lot of happiness into our home and we love being parents.

Primary is keeping me busy. We have finally filled all of our positions and hope that no one else will move away for a long time. :) It is an ongoing process trying to keep everything running, but a lot of fun. I enjoy the kids a lot and am so impressed with how much they know. We are having a quarterly activity on Saturday and are celebrating the "Birthday" of the Primary. It should be a lot of fun. We sent out birthday invitations to all of the kids and are going to play some birthday games with a Bible twist. (ex: Pin-Jonah-on-the-whale and Musical Prophets.)
