Hello all,
We are trying out this new blog to see if we can figure out how to post our updates to it instead of sending a million attachments with each one. We'll see how it goes.
We have had a great couple of weeks. For the 4th of July we went to Ohio to see our friends, Jamie and Travis Treseder, and had a great time. The drive was about 6 hours and Maya did great. She did get tired of her car seat about 30 minutes outside of Columbus, so we pulled over and let her stretch out her legs and changed her diaper and then we were on our way again. We had a fun time in Columbus. Saturday night we went to a concert/firework show and brought a picnic dinner with us. It was so fun enjoying the evening outside; just relaxing and visiting with Jamie and Travis. We thought that we might have to leave early because of the fireworks, but Mmaya did great. She surprised us all by falling asleep about 20 minutes before they started and slept right through all of the booms. We were really impressed.
We came home on Monday and spent the 4th with some friends in the ward. We had lunch/dinner, a football throwing contest (organized by Brett--to see who's wife could throw the furthest) and then went down to the World's Fair Park to watch another firework show. Maya stayed awake this time and enjoyed watching the fireworks. Before the fireworks started we were sitting around on the grass talking when all of a sudden the sprinklers came on. Here we were scrambling to gather up all of our blankets and chairs and trying not to get too wet. It was pretty funny. A maintenance man came and turned them off before everything got too soaked.
Maya is starting to get two teeth. She has two little white spots on her lower gums and is chewing on everything. One of them actually finally broke throught the skin today, but I think that they have been bothering her quite a bit for the last few days because she seems pretty uncomfortable. Hopefully they will com through all the way soon so she won't be in pain. She is doing great though and has officially graduated to the kitchen sink for bath time. She was getting interested in the handle on our bathroom sink that turns the water hot and cold and I was nervous that she might try to turn it, so we moved her into the kitchen. She loves it and the sink is just the perfect size for her. She is also still working on rolling over and is getting better at going from her back to her stomach. She is so fun and we love her so much.
Work is busy for Brett this month. He is doing Interventional Radiology, which involves a lot more procedures and thus longer hours. He is enjoying it but has remembered why he didn't want to be a surgeon. He really likes the diagnostic side of imaging and the day to day routine of that. We are really looking forward to having some time off when we go to Utah in a couple of weeks and I can't wait to ditch his pager. :)
Primary is moving along. I was in charge of sharing time last week and felt like it went well. We talked about how Heavenly Father has promised to answer our prayers and some of the prayers that were answered in the scriptures. We talked about Daniel and how he was thrown into the lion's den because he prayed, but how the Lord saved him and shut the lion's mouths. I think that the kids enjoyed it and hopefully learned something too.
We hope that you are all doing well. We are looking forward to seeing some of you in Utah when we come. Have a great week and keep in touch.
Love,
Brett, Jenny and Maya
